Challenge:
The Hue Central Hospital, with over 5,000 beds, is one of the three largest hospitals in Vietnam. There are several radiological, cardiological and ultrasound departments at differed local areas which are to be combined into an electronic medical record (EMR). To ensure this, a central registration and a uniform workflow with a central picture archive and communication system (PACS) with reporting of medical findings should be set up.
Target achievement
A structured requirement specification was created with all the necessary process descriptions, timing, project organization and structural requirements for implementation. This also included the central communication with external hospitals for second medical opinions and internet access to all patient data. The challenge was all the interfaces to the different systems, the restructured workflow of the medical staff and the given schedule. The final acceptance took place after 16 months.
